How do I spot a genuine 2.5-16 Evolution II versus a clone?

Looking at a car advertised as an Evo II. What are the must-check details to confirm it’s real before I get on a plane?

Check the chassis prefix (201036), the engine number, and the data card. The Evo II has unique aero, the 17in 6-spoke wheels, AMG suspension and the big wing, but those can all be bolted on. The paperwork and numbers are what matter. Only 502 were made and most are documented.

Ask for the build data / Datenkarte and cross-reference the production number. A clone will have a 201034/201035 prefix under the kit.
